Rename Eevee and evolve it for 25 Candy. Each name works once per account. Check that the evolve button shows the right silhouette first.

Umbreon	Tamao	Walk 10 km with Eevee as your buddy. Evolve it at night while it is still your buddy.
Leafeon	Linnea	Evolve it near a Mossy Lure. A lure beats the buddy methods.
Glaceon	Rea	Evolve it near a Glacial Lure. A lure beats the buddy methods.
Sylveon	Kira	Earn 70 buddy hearts with that Eevee. Keep it as your buddy when you evolve it.

If the silhouette is wrong, don't evolve. Check that the name is spelled exactly, that you haven't used it before, and that no lure is nearby. Events sometimes lower these numbers. Based on player guides, since Niantic doesn't publish the full list. Checked on 31 October 2026.

Common questions

How many evolutions does Eevee have?

Eight: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon. No other Pokémon has more.

What is the best Eevee evolution?

All eight have the same base stat total, 525, so it depends on the job. Flareon has the highest Attack, Espeon and Glaceon the highest Sp. Atk, Jolteon the highest Speed and Vaporeon the highest HP.

How do I get Sylveon?

Teach Eevee a Fairy move, then raise its friendship and level it up. X, Y, Sun and Moon use affection hearts instead of friendship. In Legends: Z-A you evolve it yourself once both are done. An Eevee that knows a Fairy move goes for Sylveon before Espeon or Umbreon. In Pokémon GO, earn 70 buddy hearts or use the name Kira.

How do I get Espeon or Umbreon?

Raise friendship, then level up in the day for Espeon or at night for Umbreon. In Legends: Z-A and Arceus, evolve it yourself at that time of day.

What are the Eevee names in Pokémon GO?

Which Eevee evolutions are in FireRed and LeafGreen?

Only Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon, by stone. These games have no clock, so Eevee can’t become Espeon or Umbreon here. Evolve one in Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald and trade it over. Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon came later.
